Beverly Anne Lang Fountain passed away on Friday, February 2nd, 2024 at the age of 91. She was the beloved wife and soulmate of the legendary clarinetist Pete Fountain for 65 unforgettable years until his death in 2016. It was truly a match made in Heaven. The only child of Charles C. Lang and Isabel Giroir Lang, she was born on March 5th,1932 in New Orleans and was preceded in death by her parents. Loving mother to Darah Fountain Harrell and husband Benny Harrell, Kevin Charles Fountain and wife Jane Pitcher Fountain, and Jeffery Peter Fountain and his life partner Paul Ward. Adoring grandmother (Gramy) to Gregory Benjamin Harrell and wife Lisa Meza Harrell, Danielle Harrell Scheib and husband Roland Scheib, Evan Linus Harrell, Ella Victoria Fountain, Hillary Morgan Fountain and Julia Christina Fountain. Proud great-grandmother (Gramy B) to Isabella (Izzy) Christina Harrell, Elizabeth (Liz) Mary Harrell, Charlotte (Lottie) Anne Scheib, Ava Grace Harrell and Katherine Anne Harrell. Also known as Aunt Bev to Mike Materne (Denise), Steve Materne (Gayle) and Trudy M. Eagan (deceased) (Jim). She began her Catholic education at St. Augustine and St. Francis of Assisi grammar schools. Beverly, when making her confirmation, chose St. Cecilia as her patron saint (the patron saint of musicians), not knowing later in life she would be married to one. Even at an early age, Bev’s mother would save silver dimes for her, so she could go to the record shop and buy albums. What a treat! She then graduated from Dominican High School Class of 1949. Shortly after graduation, because of her love for music, she met her beloved Pete. He was 19 and playing in the French Quarter. They met, fell deeply in love, and were married at St. Francis Assisi Church on October 27th, 1951. Bev had a deep love of the Crescent City, its culture, food and of course its music. She was a gracious host to many a gatherings at DKJ Ranch, Nineteen Palms, Slidell Estate, Lakefront boat house and their Cedar Point home in Bay St. Louis. Bev and Pete had the honor of being recipients of the Order of Seelos Witness in 2019. Bev’s greatest joys were her adoring family, lifelong friends, and her husband Pete. They had a love for each other few people on Earth ever experience. They are now together again with our Lord in Heaven for all eternity. Beverly always said “It’s all about the music!” She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The Fountain Family would like to thank St Francis Villa Assisted Living for their exemplary care, the doctors and nurses at East Jefferson Hospital/LCMC Health, and the Sanctuary Passages for their compassion. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral, on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 12:00pm. Visitation will begin at 10:00am. Interment in Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, masses preferred or contributions to the Blessed Seelos Center. 919 Josephine St, New Orleans, La 70130.
