After graduating from McMain High School, Beverly went on to work for the Jefferson Council on Aging, where she served as a dedicated coordinator and manager. She was known for her compassion, warmth, and commitment to helping others.
In her free time, Beverly found joy in life’s simple pleasures — playing the piano and singing, watching her favorite sports, taking trips to the casino, and most of all, spending time with her family, who were the center of her world.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 27 years, William B. Lafitteau, Sr.; her parents, Philip and Violet Guzman Schultz; her sisters, Violet Cantin and Ione Juron; and her brother, Philip Schultz, Jr.
Beverly is survived by her children: William B. Lafitteau, Jr., Michael P. Lafitteau (Pam), Michelle L. Gelpi (Roy), and Melanie L. Powers (David); her grandchildren: Dalton Gelpi, Miranda Martin, Krislyn Nunez, Kayla Kattawar, Lindsey Powers, Stephen Powers, and Kaitlyn Powers; and her great-grandchildren: Baker Martin, Genevieve Gelpi, Remy Kattawar, John Nunez, Miller Martin, and Alaina Kattawar.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a chapel service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 11:30 AM with guests accepted any time after 11 AM. Afterwards she will be laid to rest, beside her husband, in Lake Lawn Park.
