Beverly Joy Bisso White was born in New Orleans on September 8, 1924. She passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on January 4, 2021. Beverly was preceded in death by her loving husband Cornelius Dee White Jr. (“Jack”), her son Cornelius Dee White, III (“Dee”), her brother Joseph August Bisso II (“J.A.”), her sister Jacquelin Bisso Higgins (“Jackie”), and her parents Edwin Napoleon Bisso and Gladys Jung Bisso.
She is survived by her daughter Susan White Sharp (Bob), her-daughter-in law Jessica Lancaster White, her grandchildren, Britton Hall Miller (Michael), Megan Mallory White (Erin Frazier), Barrett White Green (Richard), Meredith White Griffin (Cameron), Cornelius Dee ("Neal") White IV; great-grandchildren Hunter Hall, Carter Green, Clark Green, Megan Green, Chandler Griffin, step-grandson Michael Sharp and step-great granddaughter Lily Miller.
Beverly, lovingly known to her grandchildren as Bebe, graduated from Isidore Newman School and attended Newcomb College. She and Jack married on December 29, 1944 and spent 58 wonderful years together. Together they lived a good life and, in fact, it was “The Good Life,” as they filled their lives with family and bonhomie amongst friends.
Beverly was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, an extraordinary homemaker and a wonderful cook. In her free time she was an avid card player at Metairie Country Club, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and gardening. Beverly, a matriarch to her family’s business, E.N.Bisso & Son, Inc., served as President from December 1979 to March 1999, as Chairman of the Board, and in 2000, she was named Member Emeritus of the Board of Directors.
In 2005 Beverly moved to Christwood in Covington, Louisiana, where she made many new friends and enjoyed playing bridge for nearly a decade. The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Monica Baker, Alethea Womack, the Christwood Companions and the Christwood staff for their kindness, service, and compassionate care. All of these people made it possible for Beverly to live out her remaining years on her own terms in the comfort of her home.
Beverly was laid to rest at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery on January 8, 2021, following a private funeral. Memorial donations may be made in honor of Beverly to Christwood Foundation, 100 Christwood Blvd., Covington, LA 70433 (christwoodrc.com/foundation), or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org).
