Billie Ridge Ashmead

August 6, 1925 – September 1, 2022

Olive Billie Ridge Ashmead was born on August 6, 1925 in Parsons, Kansas. She passed away on September 1, 2022 at the age of 97 years.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Gary K. Ashmead; her parents, James K. Ridge and Olive Olson Ridge; her sister, Mavis Ridge McCluskey; brother-in-law, Paul W. McCluskey; and her great great granddaughter, Harley Dakota Tannehill.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Ashmead Faist (Leon), Dee Ashmead; her son, Gary Ridge Ashmead (Mieke); grandchildren, Eric Tannehill (Jodi), Paul Rodi (Tonya), Lee Faist (Carrie), Chris Faist (Aimee), and Carlijn Ashmead.

Billie is blessed to be survived by 9 great grandchildren, Russell Tannehill, Zachary Tannehill, Charlie Tannehill, William Tannehill, Karlee Faist, Parker Faist, Anna Katherine Faist, Quinn Faist, and Cameron Faist and four great great grandchildren, Scarlett, Stephen, and Jackson Tannehill, and Tristan Paul.

Billie grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1943. She attended Oklahoma A&M (Now OSU). While there, she was a cheerleader and member of Chi Omega Fraternity. She also attended Oklahoma University.

Billie and her husband were members of Metairie Country Club. She was president of the Women’s Golfers, an avid bridge player, and a Presbyterian Sunday school teacher. She moved to Gonzales, Louisiana, in 2006 and lived with her daughter and son-in-law.

She joined Pelican Point Ladies Golfers, played bridge in the Greens, and was very social in all the ladies groups.

A celebration of her life, family, and many great friends will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 1 PM at Lake Lawn Park, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans.
