

Bret Edward Rodriguez died on February 8, 2017, at the age of 52 after a courageous and spiritually charged battle with Colon and Lung Cancer. He was a beloved parent to Angelina Rodriguez, his Sweetpea, in partnership with her beloved mother Michelle Enriques. He was a treasured brother, uncle and friend to many. He journeyed successfully to be the best man, father, and enjoyer of life with family and friends. His passion for God and his faith was limitless. His love for Angelina had no bounds and was his most treasured and beloved gift. He will be with her in heart, spirit and mind forever. Making memories with Angelina, playing golf and the company of family and friends brought him the most joy in life. Brother of Ronald Rodriguez, Jr (Becky), Gregory Rodriguez (Cindy), Barry Rodriguez (Deidre), and Danielle Frank (Kerry). Godfather of Nicole Rodriguez, and Katie Hughes. Bret was also an Uncle of numerous nieces and nephews, and lifelong friend to many within the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ronald and Elizabeth Rodriguez, and nephew Stephen.
Special thanks to Sister Dulce, who inspired and guided him on his journey accompanied by God with the miracles of faith and healing. Bret also cherished the blessing of the amazing care provided by Doctors Barnhill, Mayfield, Gagliardi, Udhrain, O’Brien, and the staff at University and East Jefferson Hospitals.
Bret graduated from Brother Martin High School, where he was a state champion wrestler, and the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. His career included varied roles in accounting, construction management, and self-employed Pool Services. In 2013, after learning of his terminal condition, Bret spent the rest of his life cancer vigilant, strengthening his faith, and exclusively devoted to being the best father he could be for his Angelina. His most cherished role in life was being a Father leaving this memory of him with Angelina to hold in her heart forever.
Relatives and friends are invited to share in the celebration of life on Monday, February 20, 2017 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Visitation at 10:00 a.m. Mass at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow mass at All Saints Mausoleum.
