He was preceded in death by his father, Mark Christian Smith III.
He is survived by his mother, Juanita “Jaye” Berard Smith; daughters, Lauren Smith Schirduan (David), Hayley Cristina Smith and Allison Christy Smith; brother, Mark Christian Smith IV (Anna); sisters, Robyn Smith Tweedy (Jim) and Tara Susan Smith; nieces Jordan Melito Levanway (Adam), Mark-Ellen Smith Tweedy and Mackenzie Katherine Tweedy; nephews, Sean Alastair Tweedy and Shannon Christian Tweedy; and a host of cousins.
Brett was in the New Orleans Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism industry for 34 years. He was the former owner and manager of the Marie Antoinette Hotel, The Prince Conti Hotel, The Saint Ann Hotel, The Saint Louis Hotel, The Saint Charles Hotel, Louis XVI Restaurant Francais, Savoir Faire Bistro and L’Escale French Restaurant. He was a board member of New Orleans Tourism and Marketing Corporation, The Louisiana Hotel-Motel Association, New Orleans Hotel-Motel Association, The Rivergate Development Corporation, The Historic French Quarter Marigny District Board, and the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and a graveside inurnment will follow the funeral service at All Saints Mausoleum.
