

C. Ray Bergeron passed away on July 12, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born on October 18, 1935 in Houma, Louisiana and lived in New Orleans for nearly 40 years before recently moving to Metairie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Bergeron, and Edith J Bergeron, his sisters, Carmel Petrie (Floyd) Jeanette Falgout (Oliver) and his brother Robert Bergeron (June), and granddaughter, Rose Bergeron. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Jaimie Gambino Bergeron, his daughter, Jena B. Villere (Paul), grandchildren Reid Villere, Camille Villere, Jessica Hebert (Brandon) Patrick Blanchard (Michelle), Mindy Adams (Brandon), Simone Bergeron, Olivia Bergeron, and Vivian Bergeron along with 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members, and many, many friends. C. Ray owned and operated Fleur de Lis Car Care Center in Lakeview for nearly 40 years. Besides his family, it was his greatest passion. He considered the people he served more than simply customers; they were friends. He was a talented woodworker and loved spending time in his workshop. His other great love was his vegetable garden. He particularly enjoyed showing young friends and family members how vegetables were grown. His youngest grandson, Reid, enjoyed harvesting potatoes, peppers, and carrots with Papa. C. Ray was a past member of the board of the Lakeview Civic Improvement Association and the Lakeview Crime Prevention District. He was also instrumental in the creation of Lakeview’s Holidays on Harrison light display. Friends and family are invited to the services on Friday, July 21 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 11 AM with Mass at 11 AM. Burial will be private.
