She was born on April 24, 1934, to Carlton and Elizabeth Reed in Fort Worth, Texas. Employment opportunities brought the family to Baton Rouge where she grew up. Carleene met and married Merlin J. Denoux and together they raised their four children. The family moved to Metairie in 1964, and she stayed in Metairie until her children left home. At that time, she returned to Baton Rouge to be closer to her parents. After reconnecting with an old friend, she married James “Jim” Lane and they enjoyed nine years together until his death.
Carleene was a homemaker, shared ownership of Airline Park Supermarket with her husband, Merlin, before his death, and other employment over the years.
Gardening, game nights, travel, activities with friends, fishing and casinos were all things Carleene loved. Mom’s favorite color was pink and she enjoyed watching hummingbirds that visited her feeders.
Carleene was loved by many friends and no one was a stranger.
The family would like to thank mom's caregivers, Maria Landreneau and Julieth Sanjur, for loving mom and treating her like family. We would also like to thank the loving staff at The Blake at Colonial Club.
Carleene was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth; her father, Carlton; her first husband, Merlin J. Denoux; her second husband, James Lane; her sister, Betty Reed Gantz; her son, Timothy R. Rochester; her mother-in-law, Ella Denoux; and many other family members.
Carleene is survived by her three daughters, Linda D. Hof (David), Elizabeth “Libby” D. Daigle (Eddie), and Dianne D. Jaufre, and several grandchildren, David Hof, Jr., Christopher Hof, Lacey Rochester, Daniel Rochester, Victoria “Tori” Daigle, Raymond Jaufre, Jr., and Ryan Jaufre. She is also loved by many great grandchildren.
