Carlota Prince

Carlota Prince passed away during the early morning hours on Friday, April 7, 2023 at the age of 89. She was born in Honduras on November 20, 1933 to Rafael and Zoila Prince. Carlota was very proud of her Honduran heritage, and always fondly told stories of her youth spent in Honduras. She is preceded in death by her siblings Cristina Duke, Guillerma “Mina” Janet, Rosario Ingraham, Myrna Taylor, Arturo Prince, and Rafael “Lito” Prince Jr. Carlota is survived by her siblings Alicia Rubi, Gloria Lobo, and Solomon Carias, her two sons Walter Courtney and Richard Courtney, her grandchildren Carlos G. Courtney, Ricardo Courtney, Alexis Courtney, and her great-grandchildren Carlos A. Courtney, Aurora Courtney, Anna’Leeda Courtney, Roman Courtney, and Haiden Courtney as well as her numerous nephews and nieces.

Carlota will always be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother. A modest and respectable woman to be admired, she worked hard all her young adult life until she retired, and proudly raised her two boys Richard and Walter on her own. She was a caring, responsible mother who always made sure her boys had everything they needed. As a grandmother she adored her grandchildren and was a loving motherly figure in their lives. She also adored her great grandchildren and enjoyed every moment spent with them. Carlota will be remembered as the kind, loving, and affectionate person she was. She was very generous and regularly donated to various charities, her favorite being the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. In her retirement she loved to travel the world taking many cruises with her sister Mina, and always brought back gifts to share with her loved ones. She was one to never miss a holiday or a birthday. She was always thoughtful and kind. Carlota will be deeply and sorely missed by all her loved ones.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to the visitation, which will be held for her at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 10:00am until time of Memorial Service beginning at 12:00pm. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
