Carmel A. Baumer Hines

July 30, 1954 - December 18, 2020

Carmel was a lifelong New Orleanian. She was preceded in death by her parents Roger and Carmelite Shepherd Baumer and her treasured son Jack D. Hines III. She is survived by her siblings Gayle Foy (Dave), Jackie Berg (Tom), Roger Baumer (Carol), Gregg Baumer (Donna), Shepherd Baumer (Nina), and Maureen Bellina; her former husband Jack D. Hines, Jr. She was a loving mother to Dana Hines (Brent Farrell), Alison Hines, and Kyle Hines (Dr. Lamia AbiSamra). She was the beloved Oma of Roger and Warren. Carmel attended Holy Rosary, St. Mary's Dominican High School, St. Mary's College, University of New Orleans, and Louisiana State University. She was a medical technologist for over thirty years and an employee of Meadowcrest Hospital for twenty-six. She was an active member of the Amelia Earhawts. Carmel was the embodiment of caring compassion and kindness. She was relentlessly loving and gave of herself freely. A lifelong learner by necessity, she could give you the answer to any question, though on occasion with undue confidence. An adventurous bon vivant, she loved many and much, including travel with dear friends, good food, good times, and shakin' it like no other. Services will be private due to the restrictions.
