Carmella Fernandez Robert

Carmella Fernandez Robért, age 81, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 13, 2014. She was a native and a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana. Carmella was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Lt. Col. Marc Lewis Robért, USAF, and endeared son, René J. Robért.

Survived by her five sons, Marc L. Robért, II (Darlene), Robin P. Robért, André J. Robért (Caroline), Jaime G. Robért (Lee), Jean L. Robért, (Monique); and her three daughters, Laura A. Robért (Louise), Thèrése L. Robért (Patricia), and Leigh Ann Robért Stock (Judy).

Mere, as she was fondly called, was grandmother of Marc L. Robért, III (Tory), Marcelle R. Connick (Peter), Matthieu P. Robért, Rèmy C. Robért, Raphael S. Robért, Eli J. Robért, Lucas C. Robért, Nicole E Robért, Emily A. Robért, Trevor J. Robért, René J. Robért, Madeleine M. Robért, Celeste A. Robért, and René J. Hebert.

Mere was also the great grandmother of Lillian M. Robért, Beau H. Robért, and Maysen J. Hebert.

Also, preceded in death by her parents, Louis John Fernandez, Sr. and Violet Robert Fernandez and her brother Louis John Fernandez, Jr. Also survived by her sisters, Jean F. Drez and Lynn F. Schutzler, and her brother, Robert P. Fernandez, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Carmella was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church in Lake Vista, New Orleans, Louisiana, where she and Marc lovingly raised their nine children.

The family would like to thank her caregivers for their dedication, devotion and compassion.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:00 AM.
