Carole Lombard Schrieffer

Carole Lombard Schrieffer, lovingly known as “Sweetie,” passed away on May 30, 2025, at age 83. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold Schrieffer Jr., cherished mother of Stacie Schrieffer LeBlanc (WJ) and Steven Schrieffer (Melanie), and loving grandmother of Megan LeBlanc Roy (Chris), Trey LeBlanc, CJ Schrieffer, and Jack Schrieffer. Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Darwin and Dorothy Lombard.

Carole had a way of making everyone feel at home. Whether you knew her for a moment or a lifetime, you felt her kindness. She truly was the sweetest, kindest lady, and her presence made the world a gentler place. She also cherished her tennis friends, who brought her laughter and joy over the years. She enjoyed playing competitive tennis and mahjong with her lifelong friends.

Carole showed us that being a devoted wife and homemaker is no less meaningful than any title or career. Her life was proof that love, joy, and a home filled with laughter matter more than accolades. Carole was the kind of listener who made you feel truly heard. Nothing brought her more joy than watching someone light up while sharing something that mattered to them. Content with staying in the background, she never sought recognition or praise. She found her fulfillment in witnessing the people she loved be seen, celebrated, and valued.

Her creativity showed in her love of painting, puzzles, games, decorating, and making her own curtains and bedding. She was not competitive but happened to win anyway. She was well-read and traveled far. She was also a wonderful cook, best known for her famous “Sweetie’s Spaghetti” and countless other dishes. Though family have tried, no one can quite recreate them because it was not just the ingredients, it was her heart that made them unforgettable.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 12:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM. A celebration of life reception will immediately follow the Mass at Fleur du Lac.
