Carolyn B. Galendez

Carolyn Bosworth Galendez, age 78, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018. She is survived by her children James G. Galendez, Ann Galendez LaBauve (Wayne), and Stephanie Galendez; grandchildren Desmond and Brennan LaBauve; and brother Bruce Bosworth. She was preceded in death by her husband James R. Galendez; parents Irma and Ralph Bosworth; and brother Edward Bosworth. She is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.

A native of New Orleans and resident of Harahan for the past 46 years, Mrs. Galendez graduated from Sacred Heart of Jesus High School in New Orleans. She received a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree from Loyola University. While attending Loyola, she was a founding member of the Alpha Beta chapter of Theta Phi Alpha Fraternity.

She was a devoted teacher at Airline Park Elementary for 30 years. After retirement, she remained active as a volunteer at Airline Park and served as a volunteer and docent at The National WWII Museum. Mrs. Galendez was an active parishioner at St. Rita Church for 46 years. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, and everything New Orleans.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, starting at 9:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Louisiana (www.alz.org) or St. Rita Church, 7100 Jefferson Highway, Harahan, LA.
