Born in New Orleans on October 25, 1958, to Jared and Carolyn Palmer, known affectionately as ‘Dee Dee,’ Carolyn attended Edward Hynes Elementary as a child. Later, along with her two younger brothers, she attended St. Martin’s Episcopal School. Then, she studied child psychology at Tulane University. After earning her bachelor’s degree she dedicated many years to her family’s business, TwiRoPa Mills on Tchoupitoulas St, founded by her grandfather George Palmer Sr.
Carolyn met James Patrick Guste, son of William and Dorothy Guste Jr., in 1988 at Faith Church. They were married December 17 of the same year, beginning a joyful and loyal union that would span thirty-six years. Together they built a life of faith, family, and devotion—raising their two children, Joshua James Patrick and Joy Juliette Marie together in a home filled with steadfast love, music, and humor.
Above all, Carolyn loved the Lord, her family, and serving others—especially children. Her Christian faith was the quiet current beneath all she did. Whether she was enjoying classical music, cheering on her alma mater or delighting in a Saints victory, Carolyn brought a warm, gentle joy to every room and gathering.
She now joins her dear father, Jared Palmer Sr., and brother, John Palmer, in heaven. She will be missed tremendously by her husband and children, many nieces and nephews, her devoted mother, Carolyn Palmer; and her brothers, Jared Palmer Jr. and Gregory Palmer; who will carry her memory, accomplishments, and enduring love forward.
Carolyn’s entry into eternal life will be honored Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA. Visitation with be from 9:00-11:00 AM and services to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Carolyn’s generous heart with a contribution NAMI, The National Alliance On Mental Health.
