A proud graduate of the Louisiana State University, Mike dedicated his life to public service. He was a retired Special Agent of the U.S. Treasury Department and later served as a United States Bankruptcy Trustee. His commitment to community was extended far beyond his career – he served faithfully with the Terrytown Fire Department and was a Vessel Safety Check Examiner with the United States Power Squardrons. He was also a longtime member and former President of the Lions Club, and a devoted member of the Krewes of Carrollton and Endymion, roles that reflected his deep love for New Orleans traditions and service.
Mike approached life with unmistakable joy and curiosity. He loved spending time with his family, attending theater, and traveling the world. He embraced every new experience with enthusiasm, always eager to learn, explore, and share what he discovered. A passionate photographer, he spent countless hours capturing the beauty around him including churches and cathedrals, many of which he transformed into collages and generously donated to the Archdiocese. An avid boater, he cherished his years on the water aboard his beloved vessel, Figment, which truly became his second home.
He was preceded in death by his spouse, Magnolia “Nolia” Chiasson; his parents, Acy A. Chiasson and Leontine V. Chiasson; his siblings, Midred Strate, Margie Bohne, Dorothy Varuso, Acy A. Chiasson Jr., and Ernest Chiasson; and his beloved granddaughter, Emily Nicole Carpenter.
Mike is survived by his spouse, Linda Louise Chiasson; his children, Michael Gregory Chiasson (Donna), Valerie Ann Carpenter (Adam), and Katie Michelle Chiasson (Martin); and his stepdaughter, Dawne Hunter. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ross, Alex and Shelby Chiasson, Nicholas Chiasson, Ashley Chugden (Sean), Michael Chiasson (Danielle), Amanda Couvillion, and Suzanna and Alexandra Walston, step-granddaughter, Rachel Cooley and great-grandchildren, Braiden and Landon Chugden, Madden, Carter, and Anniston Chiasson, Olivia Byers, Elijah Williams, and Molly Pechon; all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
