Casmier "C.J." Joseph Blanda

Casmier “C.J.” Joseph Blanda passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at the age of 95. He was a native New Orleanian and a 60 year resident of the French Quarter. CJ was a graduate of Jesuit and Tulane University. He had a career with Lloyds of London as an insurance executive. CJ was a proud member of New Orleans Spring Fiesta and the first male president and first king of the Spring Fiesta Gala. He was a longtime member and past president of the Patio Planters of the Vieu Carre; this year’s Caroling in Jackson Square will be dedicated in his memory. CJ was a longtime member and board member of VCPORA, he was also a member of the French Quarter Citizens, member of the Beauregard-Keyes House and a board member of the Vieu Carre Commission. CJ has been a philanthropist and supporter of the architecture and lifestyle of the French Quarter. He will be dearly missed by his constant companion, Samuel L. Steele, III along with Joey DiFatta, Jerry Stowe, Pastor Raynard Casimier and Billy Thomas. Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at 12 noon followed by a prayer service at 2pm in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Orleans Spring Fiesta House, 826 St. Ann St. New Orleans, LA 70116. Interment will be private.
