

Catherine (KT) Turnbull Snyder passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 76 on March 13 after a long illness. She was born in New Orleans August 12, 1949 to the late James F. Turnbull and Helen Ferrandou Turnbull. KT graduated from St. Martin’s Episcopal School and studied elementary education at LSU, graduating in 1971. She taught third grade in a rural school outside of Durham, NC for four years.
An avid tennis player, she took a job overseeing an indoor tennis club in St. Louis, MO until the birth of her first child.
KT moved back to Metairie in 1981, where she was active socially and professionally. She loved teaching aerobic dance. She had a long list of clients selling Etcetera clothing from her home. She became a licensed tour guide and worked for many years in the hospitality industry.
KT was active in the Junior League of New Orleans. She was a past Co-Chairman of the Junior League of New Orleans’ Decorator’s Show House. She supported her children’s education and school. She served for a year as president of the Country Day Parents’ Association.
KT was a member of several book clubs, garden clubs, the Orleans Club, Sybarites, bridge groups, and even an investment club. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, serving on the vestry there. Throughout her illness, she has had the support of many devoted friends.
KT will be missed by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 55 years, David W. Snyder. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Turnbull, as well as by her sister, Carol Hellman. She is survived by her son, James H. Snyder (Florie Claire) and her daughter, Lindsay Ritthaler (Cory), as well as by her beloved grandchildren, Mason Snyder, Colin Snyder, Preston Snyder, Menzie Parker, Miles Ritthaler and Alexis (Lexie) Ritthaler.
Memorial services will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124 on Saturday, March 21st at 1:00pm, with visitation starting at noon. Interment will be private. A separate Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, March 24 from 3:00-5:00. Please contact family for specific location.
