He is preceded in death by his parents, Widley Jacob Broussard and Leola Harrington Broussard; and brother, Ronald G. Broussard.
Charlie followed his father Widley into the dredging industry in 1969 when he was 18 years old. While attending class at University of New Orleans he joined the Air Force Reserves 1970 during the Vietnam War for 5 years. Over his career he worked for several dredging companies. Even when he left the industry in 1997 to work in Florida, he found himself closely supporting the dredging industry. He retired from Weeks Marine in 2020. His career influenced his son, Chuck, and grandson, Jacob, who work for Weeks Marine and granddaughter, Marie, who is enrolled at UNO and is presently working as a Naval Architect Intern.
Charlie was a hard worker who provided for his family. He always made sure we had everything we needed. He loved and guided his children making them strong. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed seeing their smiling happy faces. He was proud of his children and their spouses and of course his grandchildren. He was adventurous and fun loving. He was kind, strong, and a fighter. He provided for us when we were young, throughout our lives and made sure we were taken care of when he was no longer able too. HE WAS OUR ST. JOSEPH.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 11 AM. Visitation will begin at 10 AM. A graveside service will follow Mass in Metairie Cemetery.
