Charles Davis, Sr., lovingly called “Brother” by his family and “Charlie D” by many who knew him, passed away at the age of 67 on August 9, 2020. Charles was a retired officer of the New Orleans Police Department, a United States Army Veteran, and the Head Deacon at Greater Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church—a humble servant of the city in which he lived, his country, and the Church. He was born on August 19, 1952, in Garyville, Louisiana to the late Sam Davis, Sr. and Rosemary Davis.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Geneva Jeanette Davis, who shared 32 years of marriage with him. He is also survived by: his daughters, Amanda White, Crystal Wilkerson (Edward Mathis), and Kaniya Davis; his sons, Charles Davis, Jr., Kerry Pierre (Renea J. Pierre), Chad Tassin (Randi Lennix), Justin Davis (Christine Davis), Jarvis Davis, and Christian Prevost; his sisters, Elaine White, Joyce Chambers, and Shelika Poole; his brothers, Sam Davis, Jr., Ricky Davis, and Michael Davis; and his grandchildren, Christopher White, Enjoli Pierre, Gabriella Pierre, Ashtyn Pierre, Kerry M. Pierre, II, Jarvis Davis, Jr., Aniya Ashford, Alton Ashford, III, Avery Mathis, Ashton Mathis, Chazz Tassin, Ryan Tassin, Laniccia Mireles, Brianna Mireles, Davonte Jones, Caira Davis, Annzayah Smith, Tamorra Davis, Issiah Harrison, Charlai Davis, Charles Davis, III, Kevin Peterson, Jada Davis, Brandy Jackson, and Chelsea Davis-Boyd.
Due to recent health concerns and city restrictions, services will be private. Eulogy at the service will be given by Pastor Malcolm Bacchus.
