Charles Morris Saylor

Charles (Charlie) Morris Saylor died Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the age of 88. He was born in Oak Grove, Missouri on Jan 30, 1930 to the late Coy and Cora Saylor. He was preceded in death by his stepmother Agnes and brother Richard. He spent the past 50+ years in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas. He is survived by his wife of almost 68 years Joyce Elaine Reid Saylor. Together they had 3 children Michael B Saylor (Janette), Deborah S Carey (late John) and the late Charles Stephen Saylor, 5 grandchildren Craig M Saylor (Erin), Scott M Saylor (Caitlyn), Jeffrey J Carey (Stephanie), Stephanie L Carey and Vincent F Saylor (Brittany), 6 great grandchildren Nathan, Colin, Aidan, Marlee, Mason, and Cameron.

He served in the U. S. Coast Guard 22 years and retired as a Lieutenant in 1971. He immediately assumed the duties of managing the Coast Guard Credit Union in New Orleans for the next 23 years. He especially loved getting the entire family together for the holidays where the youngest were always fair game. In his spare time and while his health allowed, he enjoyed playing a round of golf. The family would like to thank all his caregivers at Ochsner, especially Dr Patrick Breaux and Dr Paul Page.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans at 12:00 p.m. on September 5, 2018. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery.
