Christopher Tyler “Paw Paw” Arms entered into eternal rest on July 11th, 2026 in Metairie, Louisiana, at the age of 75. Chris was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 19th, 1950 to the late Doris and Ernest Arms.
Chris grew up in Chicago and attended General Motors Institute (GMI) in Michigan. He later obtained a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. With 2 of his colleagues, he started a successful diesel engine service company in Houston and New Orleans that survived several oil recessions.
Known affectionately as “Paw Paw” by his grandchildren, Chris was also known for his innate ability to light up a room with his larger-than-life personality. One of Chris’s greatest joys in life was enriching the lives of his loved ones by giving gifts that would tell stories and spark new interests in their lives.
Chris was a devout Catholic and a faithful parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in River Ridge, Louisiana. He there served as a eucharistic minister and was also a dedicated member of RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults).
Chris’s hobbies involved bowling and golf, both of which he shared for decades with family and close friends. His love for construction and architecture led him to renovate his last home, where he designed and built a gazebo and arbor with his children.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, Linda Bruno Arms. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Ernest Arms.
Chris is survived by his children, Jason Arms (Drew), Joshua Arms, Jessica Miller, and Jennifer Gangi (Michael); his stepchildren that he loved as his own, Stephanie Robbins (Richard) and Brett Mitchell (Elizabeth); 10 grandchildren; as well as 3 great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on through each of them.
Chris’s life was a testament to faith, family, and love. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire all who were touched by his presence. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 beginning at 10:00 AM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. A Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 noon.
