Claire Rougelot, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Family was always the center of her life. She was the loving mother of four daughters --- Claire Delhom (Jay), Alma McAlister (Richie), Denise Wessels (Carl), and Yvette Arnold (Ray). She was grandmother to 15 grandchildren: Brigitte, Melissa, Danielle, Chris, Mandy, Richie, Katie, Rusty, Billy, Melanie, BJ, Katie, Alex, Jonathan, and Allison, and 9 great-grandchildren. Friends of her grandchildren thought of her as their grandma too. Spending time with family and talking to them on the phone were her favorite things to do.
Claire was an excellent cook. Family and friends always enjoyed delicious meals at her table. On many occasions, her loving husband of over 61 years, Will, would call her to say he was bringing guests home for dinner. Even on short notice she would serve a meal better than could be found at any restaurant.
Originally from New Orleans, Claire and Will moved to Ruston, Louisiana in 1971. She happily worked alongside him on the acreage they built their home on building fences and caring for their cattle. In later years they moved to Memphis, Tennessee.
Claire was preceded in death by her husband, Will Rougelot, parents Benjamin Buras and Katie Wetzel Buras, and sister Pauline Theobald. .
