V Ingold was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to anyone that knew him. He left this life on October 21, 2026, at the age of seventy-seven, in New Orleans, Louisiana, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on December 4, 1948, in Rockville Centre, New York, to Conrad C. Ingold Jr. and Virginia “Jeanie” Davis. V was the warmest, most loving person many of us have ever known, and he leaves behind a family, and a much larger circle of people he simply decided were family, who will miss him every day.
His family moved to Ft. Lauderdale when he was a child and he attended South Broward High School in Hollywood, Florida where he graduated in 1967. He attended West Virginia Wesleyan and graduated in 1971 with a B.S. in Accounting. He then moved to New Orleans and opened a smoothie and juice shop. V was always an entrepreneur. He owned and managed Nature's Way, a health food store and restaurant, and food was never just business to him. It was how he showed his love to people. He was well known for his “super salads”, soup of the day, blackened redfish, homemade pepper jelly, and fresh-baked bread, and he shared all of it freely. His crawfish boils were legendary gatherings where no one ever left hungry and everyone left feeling welcome. If you walked into V's life, you were fed, you were looked after, and before long, you were family. V was also a savvy investor and a big-hearted property manager who always gave people the benefit of the doubt. Whether you were a tenant, a friend, or someone he'd just met, he led with trust and kindness.
V had a generous spirit and an adventurous heart. He loved fishing and boating, especially with his friends at Suzie Bayou. Every weekend, he spent time near Myrtle Grove catching redfish and trout. He loved live music and never missed the chance to spend time with his chosen family at the New Orleans Jazz Fest every year. He also made a point of staying active waterskiing, snow skiing and bike riding. Above all, he loved being with his family. He was always ready with a funny comment, a one-of-a-kind facial expression, or some small way to brighten the room, and he had a gift for making the people around him feel cared for and loved.
In his later years, Parkinson's disease took its toll on V's body, but it never touched his heart. He was a fighter to the end, and even as his own needs grew, he kept worrying about everyone else, asking what they needed and making sure they were taken care of. That was simply who he was.
V is survived by his beloved wife, Patty Ingold; son, Chris Ingold; daughters, Carol Powers (Shawn) and Cheri Schumacher (Kevin); grandchildren, Morgan Balboa (Nick), Emily Powers, Bryce Fetter, Sean Schumacher, and Ali Schumacher; and cousins, Kelly Davis, Diane Davis, and Shelley Lovaglio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad C. Ingold Jr. and Virginia Davis, and his dear brother, Jerry. The great love of V's life was his wife, Patty. The two were together for fifty-four years and married for forty-five of them, and in all that time he never stopped adoring her. Anyone who spent time around them saw it: the way he looked at Patty, with that unmistakable twinkle in his eye, was the kind of true love most people only hope to find. Theirs was a partnership built on devotion, laughter, and a deep, abiding affection that inspired everyone lucky enough to witness it.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to V's caregivers for their dedication and kindness over the past couple of years. They brightened his days, lifted his spirits, and had the gift of seeing his wonderful personality shine through every single day. We are forever grateful for the care and love they gave him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, October 30th at 1:00 pm followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00pm at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. A reception will be held after the service at The Broadside. If you want to honor him in the way he'd love most, cook something with love and share it with the people around you.
