Consuelo Garcia Vides

Consuelo Vides, born July 23, 1926, was called home by Our Lord on Thursday, February 26, 2015. Beloved wife of Carlos Manuel Vides, Sr. Beloved mother of Mary Elizabeth Giron Astorga (George), Norma Consuelo Giron, Andrea Vides Neesley (Alan), Aura Manuela Vides, Dr. Carlos Manuel Vides, Jr. and Dalton Guillermo Vides. Loving grandmother of Emily Jean Neesley, Matthew Terry Vides and Dustin Perry Vides. Loving sister of the late Ana Maria Garcia Ovalle, Clara Luz Garcia Ovalle de Vickers (Guillermo) and Hilda Beatriz Garcia Ovalle. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her mother Andrea Ovalle Orellana de Garcia, and father Guillermo Garcia Rodas.

Born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, Consuelo’s dream was to come to the United States and make a life for herself. Her dream was fostered by the movies she grew up watching and enjoying with her mother. Her dream was realized on November 11, 1949 when she moved to New Orleans.
