
Daniel Beryl Buckman passed away peacefully in his sleep at home with his loving wife, Audrey Langer Buckman. Danny and Audrey had just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Thursday, March 25,2021. Danny was born on November 9, 1929. A native New Orleanian, Danny attended A.H. Wilson Grammar School, Isidore Newman High School and Tulane University. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two Tours of Duty, having been recalled for the Korean conflict. In Danny's early career he was co-owner of Wright Tailors,owned and operated Danny's Men and Boy's wear at Lakeside Shopping Center, merged with The Wiener Corporation and became a Board member, Vice President and General Merchandising Manager. The Wiener Corp operated chain stores: Shoe Town, Shoe Lodge, The Ranch and Danny's Mens Wear. Danny was a member of the Board of Directors of First Financial Bank, formerly First Homestead and subsequently was elected to President and Chairman of the Board. For many years he was a business consultant to many privately owned businesses. He became a member of the Board of Directors of Crescent Bank and Trust for over thirty years and functioned as Chairman of the Audit Committee. As a volunteer consultant Danny performed many assignments in Eastern Europe assisting businesses in countries emerging from Communism i.e. the Czech republic, Poland and Russia, for the Citizens Democracy Corps and the International Service Corps. He also served as a member of the Board of Touro Synagogue. Danny enjoyed the stimulation of his professional life, hobbies of sailing, tennis and exercise, but first and foremost was his devotion and generosity to Audrey and his family. Danny and Audrey enjoyed many trips abroad and adventurous moves to both coasts of Florida. Danny was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Miriam Buckman and his brother Jay L. Buckman. Along with Audrey, he is survived by daughters Pamela and Sandra Buckman, grandchildren Michele Moncrief (Brian), Julie Price (Brandon), Allison Cohen (Philip Dore) and Stuart Cohen, great grandchildren Maisie and Claire Moncrief; sister in law Jane Buckman Danny will be greatly missed by family and lifelong friends. Our family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Charles Smith for his comfort and care as well as caregivers Phalon Cornist, Nathalie Clark, Yacheka Brown and Jo Wallace.
