Daniel Holcombe Thomas II “Dan”, beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle was born August 18, 1987 to Merrill and Carolyn Thomas. Dan departed this life on June 12, 2021. He attended St. Ignatius Catholic School, graduated from St. Paul’s Episcopal School in 2006, and graduated from the University of Mississippi where he earned a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. After graduating, he pursued a career in insurance adjusting and later moved to New Orleans, La. He was an avid outdoorsman, Ole Miss fan, and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. With an infectious smile and a twinkle in his eye he was loved by all. He had a curious mind and enjoyed knowing people from all walks of life.
He is predeceased by his grandparents the Honorable Daniel Holcombe and Dorothy Quina Thomas, Catharine Jones Thomas, James Cox Webb, Jr. and Lelia Knight Webb, uncles James Cox Webb, III “Jim”, and Daniel Holcombe Thomas, Jr. “Tommy”. He is survived by his parents, Merrill Pratt Thomas and Carolyn Webb Thomas, his brothers Merrill Pratt Thomas, Jr. (Sarah), and James Webb Thomas (Katherine). He is also survived by his nieces and nephew, Anne Sutton, Merrill, Mabry, Helen, and Margaret who all affectionately called him “Uncle D” and his loyal and devoted dog, Gracie.
A memorial mass will be held Friday June 18, 2021 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church at 3:00 PM 3704 Springhill Ave Mobile, AL 36608. Contributions can be made to St. Ignatius Backpack Ministry, St. Ignatius Building Something Beautiful for God campaign, or a charity of choice.
