

Danielle Maria Lombardo Trostorff passed away on April 30th, 2023 at the age of 71. Danielle leaves behind her beloved children, Lauren Michelle Trostorff (fiancé Tyler Robinson) and Alexander Peter Trostorff Jr. (Ashley Blackwell), grandson Alexander Peter Trostorff III, and dog Harpua.
Danielle was born on December 31st 1951 in Buffalo, New York to Dorothy Anne and the late Daniel Lombardo, growing up alongside her four siblings Shelley, Lisa, Amy, and James.
Danielle graduated from Cornell University. She received a master’s degree in social work as well as her Juris Doctor from Washington University in St. Louis.
Danielle was a brilliant and devoted attorney, a superstar in her field of healthcare and compliance law. Throughout her 45 year career, Danielle received dozens of professional accolades, listed in the Best Lawyers in America since 1993 and Louisiana Super Lawyers since 2007. She was named New Orleans Healthcare Law “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers in 2013 and has been recognized as a “Top Lawyer” by New Orleans Magazine.
Danielle spent an exceptional amount of her career engaged in pro bono work. She was the recipient of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s “Pro Bono Century Award” in 2016 and was affectionately crowned the “Pro Bono Queen” by her firm, Baker Donelson.
Danielle was dedicated to her alma mater in serving Cornell as a class officer, a member of the University Council as well as the Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network, among other roles. She took great pride in organizing alumni reunions and events each year.
Danielle was cherished by lifelong friends, as well as her children’s friends from whom she earned the nickname Dani California. She was a long time member of Orléans Club and the Junior League, and rode in the Krewe of Iris for nearly three decades, a couple of years accompanied by her daughter, Lauren. She loved spending summers at her cabin on Brantingham Lake in New York, which she frequented since she was a child. Danielle will be remembered as an avid tennis player with her beloved tennis group, a talented bridge player, book club and music lover, a very devoted Saints fan, an amazing cook and forever hostess, a collector of art and antiques, and a generous giver and source of love to all, especially to her children.
Visitation will commence at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 17th at Holy Name of Jesus Church, followed by a funeral mass at 3:00 pm. A party to celebrate Danielle’s life will be held at 4:00 pm at the New Orleans Lawn Tennis Club.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Agenda for Children, a charity Danielle was involved in that supports Louisiana’s children.
