Darlene Mary Edler

It is with profound love and sadness that the family of Darlene Mary Edler announces her passing. On June 10, 2026, Darlene left her family and friends behind. She was called by the angels to join her loving parents in God’s kingdom. Born November 5, 1944 in New Orleans to Walter Henry Edler Jr. and Dolores Troyani Edler, Darlene was the oldest of four children. She is survived by her two brothers, Raymond Louis Edler and Walter Henry Edler III (Sondra), and her favorite sister, Dolores “Dede” Edler Ragan (Bill). Darlene had a big laugh and a bigger heart. She loved children, was kind to others, and shared whatever she had. She enjoyed spending time with family and joking with everyone. Though Darlene faced developmental challenges throughout her life, she always found something to be happy about. Her favorite title was “Nanny.” She is survived by two nieces, Tracey Edler Theriot and Rayme Edler, and four nephews, Ray Edler, Chris Edler, Kevin Edler, and Will Ragan. She is also survived by six grand nieces, one grand nephew, and too many cousins to count. Darlene will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to attend the services on Friday, June 26, 2026 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. The visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the funeral mass at 1:00 pm. The interment will follow within Metairie Cemetery.
