David Ellis Bernard

David Ellis Bernard, 78, a resident of Metairie, Louisiana for the past 50 years passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at his home. He was the son of the late Herbert and Arthemise Bernard. He attended St. Charles Borromeo Grammar School and graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1966. He then attended Southeastern in Hammond and Loyola and UNO in New Orleans, earning degrees in Economics and Accounting. He married the love of his life, Angie Ernst, who he met at UNO in an accounting course. They were married for 49 and a half years. David spent his career as an auditor working for the Department of Defense and later Mobil Oil, then ending his work life at the Department of the Navy in Algiers. In his free time, he enjoyed researching information about a variety of interests and then sharing it with friends and loved ones.

David is survived by his loving wife, Angie Ernst Bernard; sister-in-law, Estelle Lemoine (Houston); nieces, Celeste Capace (the late Nicholas) and Alicia Cockfield (Josh); and several great-nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation is at 11:00 a.m. and will be followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m.
