Buddy,

Thank you for the memories we shared during our time together. I’ve been away from the family for a very long time, and I’m sorry I wasn’t there. Not everyone has seen or recognized me as part of the family, but you have always been someone I’ve carried in my heart. You were — and are — missed every single day.

I’m so thankful to have had you as a part of my life, and to have been your granddaughter. That’s something no time or distance can change.

Ms Julia, I’m so sorry for the loss of your husband David.  My condolences to you and your family.

Dad, I miss you so much. You were so precious and unique; a guiding light through my life.
You were my rock, my hero and my strength.  You had so many qualities that were instilled in our family. Faith, Family, Fun and your forever loving relationship with Mom.  Michael and I will be forever grateful for everything you have taught us!
You were the most amazing Father, Father-In-Law, Grandfather and Great Grandfather anyone could every ask for.  You took the time to bring family together because it meant the world to you.  At all the family functions and holidays, you always recited the prepared “Buddy” prayer.  This tradition will live on forever.
Happy Memories flood my mind whenever I think of you!  But you can never be replaced that much is sadly true.
You were my hero with very heroic features.  You were someone I could always depend on, very loyal, honest and someone I am so proud to call My Dad!
The fact that you’re no longer here still fills my heart with pain. I wish I had just one last chance to talk with you again.  I will never forget how we rang in the New Year for 2024.  It’s midnight and you looked at me and smiled – we hugged and you said Happy New Year!
I will always remember the closeness that we had and the songs we shared.  Every time I hear “Butterfly Kisses” I will definitely think of you!

Buddy was the best person I knew. He watched every game I played in college. I will always cherish the calls and text messages he would give me after the game giving his feedback on how to team looked and what we need to do better on. He was always one of my biggest supporters throughout my career. To my biggest supporter.

David was a wonderful , gentle man who had the respect of both family and friends.  His smile was contagious and his attitude was always positive.   We are all a little better for having known him.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Fremin Family  May you receive some comfort from the fact that Davis has achieved  his eternal reward in heaven.

The Simmons family in Katy, TX got to know Buddy and Mimi through Chad and Lori’s family. Our daughters , Elyse and Jillian, are close friends with Brandon, Connor and Brooklyn. Through conversations and their stories, we came to know and love Buddy and Mimi.  The kids always spoke about Buddy with so much joy, pride and love. It was so obvious that he was a very important person in their lives.  The best evidence of a life well lived is the impact it has those who loved him. You can find all of Buddy’s great qualities in Brandon, Connor and Brooklyn. They will continue honor his legacy through their thoughts, example, and actions. This week, my heart is truly broken because heaven gained an extraordinary guardian angel. No words can truly capture the depth of my emotions. 

David Theophile Fremin, a devoted husband of 62 years, a father of five, a grandfather of nine, and a great-grandfather of seven. Daddy, your passing has left an undeniable void in all of our hearts. Your absence will be profoundly felt as you were cherished, loved, respected, and adored by all who had the privilege of knowing you.

I struggle to recall a single instance when you uttered the word "No" or claimed to be too busy for any of us. Your selflessness knew no bounds and family always took precedence. I will forever be grateful for the values you instilled in each of us. YOU are the epitome of what a FATHER should be.  

Daddy, you have always been there for me and now I do not know what I am going to do without you. Although I have so many wonderful memories to cherish, that is not the same as having you here with me.  

Christmas day will forever be engrained in my memory as that was when we had our last true conversation.  I will always cherish sitting on Dave’s couch where I gently touched your cheeks before leaving, expressing how “truly blessed I was to have you as my father.” And as selfish as I wanted to be to keep you here with us, “your work” was done. I remember looking into your beautiful blue eyes and saying “I love you Daddy Bear…. I love you with all my heart!” 

I will forever be grateful for you and Mom being wonderful role models to all of your children and grandchildren. Your love story was one that every couple strives for in a relationship, and we were able to experience it firsthand.  

As the baby of the family, I want to thank you for giving us everything you had, I want to thank you for being the best father in the world, and I want to thank you for giving each of us a piece of you. You will forever be our guiding light. I miss you so much.

Last Christmas, we went out to breakfast with Mimi and Buddy. We talked about many things but what we remember most (and wrote down so we’d remember it) was when he said: 

“When I think we started off, just the two of us…and the other night we had 34 people, and each one of them believes in their heart in Jesus and that He’s their savior, when the good Lord calls my number, I can look at Him and say ‘I did the best I could with what you gave me’. That’s what it’s all about.”

We are so blessed to have learned so much from Buddy, and it is such a privilege to carry on his legacy. We love you Buddy!

I could not ask for a better grandfather. Buddy was always there for me throughout my life. He was there for ball games, school events, job promotions, and my major life events. He welcomed my wife into the family with open arms and then years later, our daughter. He always offered us solid advice, prayers, and cheered me on for anything I wanted to do. He always made sure to celebrate our accomplishments, usually with a steak dinner. Buddy was a loving family man, smart businessman, great cook, attentive host, committed Catholic, and proud Cajun. I know you are in an even better place now. We will always cherish the times we had together. We love you Bud! -Ty, Abby, & Riley

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried, descended to hell, and on the third day He rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty and will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the remission of sins, the resurrection of the flesh and eternal life. Amen.

Condolences to Julia (Mimi) and all of the Fremin family.  We were blessed to get to know Buddy over the last few years and it is easy to see where so many of Brandon's best qualities have come from. What a wonderful and loving family the two of you created. We will miss him and will keep you all in our prayers.

So many memories over the last almost 30 years I have been your son-in-law. Will cherish and miss the many long discussions we had on all matters imaginable . From the very beginning, you treated me with all the love and compassion, a son-in-law could ask from a father-in-law. You always made me feel welcome and part of the family right from the beginning . Over the many years, you  imparted much of your wisdom upon me from all the  previous lessons learned in life. Your faith in God and devotion to the Holy Spirit, as well as your love of family are certainly a rare commodity in today’s world, and one that sets you apart from many men. It is because of that, I am certain that you have already experienced the joy of gazing your eyes upon the Holy Spirit and will experience the happiness of being reunited  with the many family and friends that have gone before you and have been waiting..Certainly Heaven became just a little bit wiser and happier now  that you’re there. I know you will be looking down on us and hope we make you proud until we are all together again.

Uncle Dave’s Catholic faith serves as an important model for me. I recall his devotion of daily Mass. Also, a very fond memory I have is saying the rosary together  at my sister Stephanie’s visitation and funeral in 2021. There wasn’t time for a communal rosary because there were so many visitors. Nearly 10 years ago, when my daughter Nora died, he called me in Kentucky and said he would have many Masses said in her memory. The morning after Uncle Dave died, I attended morning Mass and asked Fr. Thomas to say the Mass for Uncle Dave. Providentially, I served as lector that morning and the first reading was about Samuel’s anointing of King David. And the Gospel referred to David eating the show bread with his men when the had come back from battle hungry. How fitting! I had a hard time keeping my eyes dry during Mass. I felt like Uncle Dave was was with me, like when we had said the rosary together for Stephanie’s funeral. Rest in peace, Uncle Dave.
