

David Alexander Moynan, Jr. died on May 22, 2017 at his home in Metairie, LA. A native of New Orleans he is survived by his beloved wife, Betty (Elizabeth Ann) Cressionnie Moynan of New Orleans, his son David Alexander Moynan, III and son-in law John Francis Brennan of Chattanooga, TN, his daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Moynan of Bay St. Louis, MS, his sister, Angela Moynan Bose Baker of New Orleans and his adopted family, Kim, Ferd, Sarah, Hilary and Jacob Schaff of Metairie, LA. He was preceded in death by his father, David Alexander Moynan, Sr., his mother, Marie Odile Cartier Moynan and his son, Wesley Robert Moynan. A retired Civil Engineer, Mr. Moynan received his BS in Civil Engineering from Tulane University and was an Honorary Life Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was also an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus St. Dominic Council 3729. During the Korean War Mr. Moynan served as Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army with the 377th TMP and the 43rd Infantry Division. Mr. Moynan was active for many years in Civic and Community affairs with the Jefferson Parish Jaycees, the Preservation Resource Center’s Christmas in October, the Archdiocese’s Operation Helping Hands, FIRST Robotics, Bayou Regional and Feeding the Homeless at The Center of Jesus. Affectionately known as “Buddy” to his family and as “Papere” and “Paco” to his friends, Mr. Moynan will be escorted to his final resting place by Paco’s gals and guys: Cyndi Mirambell, Vicki Hughes, Amy Palisi, Beth Anne Naugher, Donna Chauffe, Lea Cupples, Gerry Fucich, Henry Andressen, MD, Roger Barba, Sr. and Noel Twilbeck, Jr. Interment will be in Metairie Cemetery on Friday May 26, 2017 following visitation from 10am -12pm with a Mass of Christian Burial at noon in the Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home’s chapel, celebrated by Reverend Simeon Gallagher, OFM.Cap. In lieu of flowers donations to the NO/AIDS Task Force, New Orleans Catholic Charities or Cenacle Retreat House in Metairie will be appreciated.
