Dennis Ralph Coughlin Jr.

Dennis Ralph Coughlin Jr. was taken suddenly from us on September 17, 2026 due to a pulmonary embolism at the young age of 45. His heartbreaking passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know his compassionate soul.

Dennis was 45 years old, born on September 30, 1980. A proud graduate of Jesuit High School, Loyola University, and the University of New Orleans, his brilliant mind was matched only by his profound humility.

Life brought its share of heartache, but Dennis met every hardship with remarkable resilience. After losing his home and everything he owned to the devastating ruin of Hurricane Katrina, he quietly rebuilt his life, relocating to Ohio to work for Cardinal Health before eventually returning home to work for Entergy and then becoming business manager at Haydel Furniture Store. As a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification and Eagle Scout with Troop 490, he poured his heart and meticulous care into everything he touched, always striving to leave the world a little brighter.

A faithful parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Dennis carried his deep faith not in loud words, but in selfless acts of love. His selfless spirit shone brightest in his tender work with children, volunteering countless hours at the Camp Challenge and Louisiana Lions Camp Pelican, giving hope, joy, and comfort to those who needed it most. He was also a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus.

Dennis’s absence leaves a quiet grief that words can scarcely capture. He leaves behind his grieving parents, Dennis Coughlin Sr. and Lynne Gravois Coughlin; his loving sisters, Danielle Ougel, Diane Procchi, and Darlene Murray; and his brothers-in-law, Mike Ougel, Anthony Procchi, and Kyle Murray. He was the most cherished, adoring uncle to Kate and Laurel Murray, a beloved godchild of Mary Ann and Bill Haynie, and a precious nephew, cousin, and friend to so many who are now left to mourn his gentle presence.

He is reunited in eternal rest with his beloved grandparents, Lloyd and Florence Gravois, Donald and Sarita Coughlin, and his dear cousin, Kevin Haynie.

Family and friends are invited to gather and remember a life so deeply cherished during a visitation on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 6425 W. Metairie Ave, Metairie, LA 70003, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A Catholic funeral Mass follows at noon.

In memory of Dennis’ compassionate heart and his love for helping children, memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Louisiana Lions League for Crippled Children Camp in Anacoco, Louisiana, or LPDCI-LA Lions Camp Pelican.
