Dewitt “Witt” Arland Trigg, born January 16, 1926 to the late Maria Donaldson Trigg and Edgar Arland Trigg, went to meet his heavenly family on August 14, 2018. He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Marian Cordora Cavalero Trigg. Dewitt had four adoring daughters from his first wife, the late Bernice Nicosia Trigg; Lynn Guidry (Gary), Arlene Poticha (Ron), Sandra Guice (Jerry) and Bonnie Faugeaux (Ray). He was a loving step-father to Marian’s children; John Cavalero, “Tony” Cavalero and Diane Cavalero DiSalvo (Marc). “Paw-Paw” will be greatly missed by his 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Dewitt is survived by his only sister, Isabel Trigg Witchen and a host of nieces and nephews.
Dewitt lived most of his life in the greater New Orleans metro area, except for his time in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post 350.
He was a master plumber, having been taught the craft by his uncle, the late Alec Donaldson, who was the most influential male role model in his life. “Witt” worked predominantly with Mechanical Construction Company (MCC) and was a member of the Plumber and Steamfitters Union Local 60.
Dewitt was a gentle soul and a kind and loving man. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 11am. A visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Witt’s memory to The Wounded Warrior Project or The Alzheimer's Association.
