Diane “Dee” Planetta Faurie, 82, was called home to our Lord on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, surrounded by family.
Born on November 4, 1943, to the late James Planetta, Sr., and Evelyn Fontana Planetta in New Orleans, Louisiana, Diane is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Robert Faurie, Sr.; her children, Tracy F. Arbour, Robert Faurie, Jr., and Robyn Faurie; and her brothers, James Planetta, Jr., Victor Planetta, and Paul Planetta.
Affectionately known as “Dee Dee,” she is also survived by her six grandchildren: Caroline A. Hanson, Cade Arbour, Taber Faurie, Nole Faurie, John Luke Arbour, and Finnley Faurie.
Diane’s greatest joy in life was her family. She dedicated her time to building a beautiful home filled with warmth, love and laughter. Outside of raising her three children, she lived a life rich in hobbies: she enjoyed cooking, decorating, and gardening. For many years, she was an active member of the Pontchartrain Garden Club.
As a deeply devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister, Diane’s selflessness, compassion, and spiritual dedication remains the foundation of her family, shaping the lives of those she loved with grace and faith.
Diane found joy in sharing and leading with her faith, including as a Come Lord Jesus leader at Mount Carmel Academy. She also founded a Rosary group, which has continued for more than 15 years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to visit St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, located at 4317 Richland Ave, Metairie, Louisiana, 70002, on Saturday, September 19, to celebrate Diane. Visitation will be from 10am to noon, followed by a Memorial Mass at noon.
“Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.”
