Beloved mom, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dianne “Cookie” Elizabeth Corona passed from this life into eternity in the full presence of Jesus Christ on Thursday morning, January 13th, 2022. Dianne was born to Sam and Lucille “Cile” Corona on July 31st, 1943 in New Orleans LA. She had a wonderful childhood with the most wonderful, gracious, FUN parents, brother, sister, uncles, aunts and cousins anyone can have. She attended Little Flower for elementary school and Sacred Heart for high school. Dianne was a homemaker while nurturing her children, and afterwards she worked at various administrative jobs.
As a young woman, Dianne enjoyed spending time at the camp in Little Woods, water skiing, going to Pontchartrain Beach, dancing and tumbling. She later enjoyed attending theater plays, comedy clubs, traveling domestically and internationally, theme parks, shows like Cirque du Soleil, anything nature and her various crafts including cross-stitch, sewing, photography, jewelry making, as well as gardening and listening to a wide variety of genres of music. Of course, she continued to enjoy dancing! She loved viewing and attending Saints, LSU and Zephyrs games. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. “Cookie” was loving, gracious, compassionate, generous and vibrant, which was constantly accompanied by her beautiful smile.
Dianne is preceded in death by her parents, Sam S. Corona and Lucille “Cile” B. Corona, and two former spouses, Michael J. Caminita III and Lucien “Ted” Perniciaro, as well as her many uncles and aunts whom she so enjoyed being in their company. Dianne is survived by her sister Donna “Dee Dee” R. Corona (Irwin Ainsworth) and her brother, Paul V. Corona and many cousins. She is also survived by her children, Michael J. Caminita IV (Michelle), Paul V. Caminita, Anthony “Tony” J. Caminita (Melodie Collier), Nicholas T. Perniciaro (Greta), Nicole E. Oliver (Mark) and Kristin D. Perniciaro. In addition, Dianne is survived by 9 grandchildren, Keri A. Caminita, Nathan M. Caminita (Rachel), Katie E. Wissner (Benjamin), Paige N. Oliver, Damian M. Oliver, Dominick T. Oliver, Sophia G. Pesses, Roman E. Pesses and Lucas R. Perniciaro, and 2 great-grandchildren, Reuben D. Wissner and Elliot I. Wissner.
The family would like to thank Melodie Collier, Chateau Living Center of Kenner LA, and Compassus Hospice of Metairie LA for their good care of Dianne during her late stages of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service to be held in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow the service in Metairie Cemetery.
