Born on March 14,1937 in New Orleans, Dolores was the eldest daughter of the late Angelo and Jennie Macaluso (DeSalvo).
She was the beloved wife of the late Thaddeus (Teddy) Calongne, Jr, and the loving mother of the late Marc Calongne, Kay Calongne-Boshart (Billy), and Angela Calongne Bua (Peter). She was a devoted mother with the great fortune of being able to stay at home and raise her children. After they were grown, she worked as an agent for New Orleans tours. Dolores was an adoring grandmother to Dominic Bua and would watch him after school for many years. She was an incredible cook, from her legendary stuffed artichokes to her mouthwatering meatballs, and finally to her delicious homemade king cakes. She enjoyed cooking the St. Joseph dinner for her family for many years, and her fig cookies were incredibly popular and often requested. As a way of giving back to the church community, she laundered the Communion linens.
Dolores is survived by her daughters, Kay (Billy) and Angela (Peter); grandson, Dominic Bua; brother, James Macaluso (Jeannette); sister, Carol Macaluso Schiro (Jerry); and many wonderful nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thaddeus (Teddy) Calongne Jr, and son, Marc Calongne.
We would like to give a special thanks to Alice Bua and the Peristyle staff for their loving and gentle care.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 15, 2026, at St. Clement of Rome Church, where she was a lifelong parishioner. Visitation starts at 10 am until a celebration mass at noon.
