On Thursday night, March 13, 2024, Dolores (Dolo) was summoned by her creator to participate in the afterlife in heaven. From her survivors, another star has found its home. Dolo, known by all, parents, husband, children, friends, relatives, and an unbelievable world of friendships. Dolo was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the third child of her parents, Walter J. Folse, Sr. and Louise Viallon Folse.
Reared in the Carrollton area, she attended Mater Dolorosa Grammar School, Mercy Academy, and attended Southwestern University in Lafayette. Her initial employment was with the Ochsner Foundation, in their early years, and then for many years at New Orleans Public Service company. She adored her NOPSI sorority playmates/coworkers, describing them as the NOPSorority.
She loved boating and sailing on Lake Pontchartrain in her youth and won a Southern Yacht Club trophy in the Star boat class. She adored going to the beach in Destin, Florida with her sons and grandchildren.
Dolo loved her family more than anything in this worldly place, and was loved even more by all who were happy to know her. She especially loved to travel with her very close friend, BJ Ranna.
Dolo is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Folse, Sr., her brother Walter J. Folse, Jr., her son Craig G. Colomes. She is survived by her husband, Richard P. Colomes, and son Kenneth P. Colomes. Also surviving are grandchildren Zachary B. Colomes, Avery Scout Colomes, Tenzin V. Colomes and Heausler, nieces and nephews, Karen, Joan, Nancy, William, Thomas, Richard and Ronald Folse.
Visitation begins at 10 AM and a vigil mass will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Saint Francis Xavier Church, 444 Metairie Rd., Metairie, LA. Interment will be a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to St. Francis Xavier Church.
