Donna Thiele Clement passed away on March 19, 2018 after a courageous seven-year battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family that adored her. She was born on October 15, 1948 in New Orleans to the late Martha Myers Thiele and Henry Joseph Thiele, Jr. (Duke/Poppa Stoppa). She will be deeply missed by her devoted and beloved high school sweetheart and husband of 46 years, Chris Clement, Jr. She was the proud mother of Gregory Clement (Dena), Keith Clement (Jenn), Kevin Clement (Shannon), and Laura Clement and held the unique status of “Mother of Triplets”.
She was a loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren whom she cherished: Jack, Annie, Sarah, Andy, Lucia, Levi, Cameron, Zoie, and her many grand dogs. Sister to Henry (Buster) Thiele III (Virginia “Ginger”) and Danny Thiele. Sister-in-law to Wayne Clement, Sr. (Linda) and Craig Clement, Sr. (Emmy). Donna was preceded in death by her sister Frances Thiele. Survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is a graduate of St. Frances Cabrini, St. Joseph Academy High School and LSU. She would always say, “Going back to campus was like going back home.” Donna was a passionate Kindergarten teacher at St. Ann School for many years and still active in the St. Ann Grandparents Club. Her biggest joy was being “Momcee” to all her beloved grandchildren. She leaves behind nothing but sweet memories that will be cherished by all she touched. Donna will be greatly missed and remembered by so many being the brightest light, the happiest soul, and most loving mother.
A special thank you to Dr. Laura Brinz and staff for providing Momcee these extra years of quality life.
Visitation will be held at St. Ann Church and National Shrine on Friday, March 23, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by a Catholic Mass at 12:00 p.m.
For those so desiring, donations may be made in Donna’s memory to the Al Copeland Foundation, 2601 Severn Ave, 17th Floor, Metairie, LA 70002 or at alcopelandfoundation.org to support cancer research.
