Doris Louise Russ Coulonge

On the morning of June 18, 2015, Doris Louise Russ Coulonge passed away peacefully at her son’s home surrounded with family. Doris was 95 years old. Doris was born in Logtown, MS on February 3, 1920 to Lois Abby Mead Russ and David Luther Russ.

Doris married the love of her life Alexander William Coulonge, Jr. on September 25, 1940 and they were happily married for 68 years. Beloved mother of Allen John Coulonge (Helen), Ronald A. Coulonge (Rhonda) and the late Alexander Coulonge III (Marilyn). Grandmother of Cybele, Alex IV, Etienne, Tina, Allen Jr., Andree and Ronald Jr. Also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Sister-in-law of Doris Russ.

Preceded in death by her parents Lois Abby and David Luther Russ; her husband Alex and son Alexander III; and her siblings Florence, Ames, Luther, Pauline, Edith and Howell.

Doris was a member of Gentilly United Methodist Church, Munholland Methodist Church, couples club, canasta club and a 50 year member of Eastern Star Encircular 191 as a past Matron.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Cypress Grove Cemetery, New Orleans, LA.
