

She was the widow of the late Gregory J. M. Burguieres, elder daughter of the late Alfred Joseph Cummings, Sr. and Dorothy Williams Cummings, and the last surviving sibling of the late Alfred Joseph Cummings, Jr., Frederick Williams Cummings, and Kathleen Cummings Endom Redmann.
She is survived by nieces, Rebecca A. Cummings and Linda E. Cummings, both of Baton Rouge, and Anne M. Cummings of San Francisco, CA and nephews, Frederick E. Endom of Diamondhead, MS and John S. Endom of New Orleans. She is also survived by eight grand nephews and nieces. “Dotty” was a loving and generous daughter, sister, and aunt.
Dotty was a native of New Orleans and received a B.A. in English from Loyola University. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Rita Catholic Church in Uptown New Orleans. Dotty worked as a secretary at station WDSU in New Orleans, and retired from New Orleans Public Service (now Entergy New Orleans), where she was an active member of their Toastmasters International chapter. Before moving to Baton Rouge in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, she resided at the Chateau de Notre Dame.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 1:00PM. The visitation will begin at 12:30PM. The interment will follow the Mass at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
