Dorothy Lennox Counce passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, at the age of 100. “Dottie” was the beloved wife of the late Oliver Joseph Counce for 51 years. She was the daughter of the late Alfred Alexis Lennox and Oma Ellis Lennox, and was the sister of the late Adriel Graham Fleming and the late Althea Tessier.
Dottie is survived by her son, Robert Ross Counce of Arden, NC, her daughter, Elizabeth Counce Irwin (James) of Essex Fells, NJ and seven grandchildren, Jordan Counce, Holland Counce, Alexis Counce, Caroline Counce, Adele Irwin Block, Oliver Irwin and Grace Irwin. She was predeceased by her son, Gregory Charles Counce.
A lifelong resident of New Orleans, she most enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She attended Newcomb College and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama. She was a member of the Southern Yacht Club, the New Orleans Country Club, Le Petit Salon, and was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church for many years, where she was involved in numerous ministries, including the Intercessory Prayer Group.
A memorial service will be held on July 23rd at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Trinity Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or to the charity of your choice.
