

Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Doshie Brown Pagan passed away quietly at home on Good Friday, March 25th. Her last murmured words were, “Oh, the trees are so beautiful and green!” She was 92.
Born October 1, 1923 in Lucedale, Mississippi, Doshie was the youngest of 14 children of Mr. and Mrs. George Washington Brown. As a young woman, she worked for the railroad in Mobile, Alabama, where she also married and had two sons. Doshie enjoyed extensive traveling throughout Europe and North America, and was known among her many friends as a fine cook and baker who loved to entertain. She was a longstanding and active member of Metairie Baptist Church.
Surviving family members include son David (Pam) Pagan of Metairie, grandchildren Christopher George Pagan and Carolyn Pagan Versele of Georgia, great grandchildren Adalina Jane and Caden Gregory Versele, former daughter-in-law Nancy Pagan Tucker and a host of nieces and nephews.
Doshie was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, George Gilbert Pagan, her eldest son, George Gregory Pagan, and her siblings Massaleat Josey, Roy Brown, Will Brown, Latt Brown, Neal Brown, Hardy Brown, Curtis Brown, Bettie Malone, Hattie Lee Welford, Lou Ella Miller, Jesse Brown, Paul Brown, Buford Brown, and Polly Mae Brown.
A special thanks to her caregivers Margie Randolph, JoAnn Miller, Mable Robertson, and Jan Randolph who took exceptional care of her.
LakeLawn Metairie Funeral Home will host services on Monday, April 4th with visitation from 10:00 a.m. till Noon immediately followed by services in the chapel and a walking procession to the nearby mausoleum to be with her honey.
