Douglas P. Levey

Douglas P. Levey, a lifelong resident of New Orleans and Owner of M. Pokorny and Son’s Limited Retail Shoe Store passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the age of 90. He was a longtime member of First Church of Christ Scientist on Nashville Street, a member of the Young Business Men’s Association, member of International House and World Trade Center, Friends of the Cabildo, Kiwanis Club, Semreh Club and Founding Member of Vista Shores and member of Beau Chene Country Club in Mandeville. He served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII and was a member of the WWII Museum. Beloved husband of the late Mary Ramsey Levey. Son of the late Ralph Levey and Sadie Dannenbaum Levey. Loving father of Sherman Levey and Helen Levey Kline. Father in law of Carole Wertz Levey and Dr. David G. Kline. Brother of the late Nan Kleiman and Ralph P. Levey Jr. Grandfather of Marcie K. Levey, Madeleine Levey Click, Mary Catherine Shay and Michael Douglas Furman. Great-Grandfather of James Michael Shay.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with a graveside service to follow in Metairie Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. In lieu flowers, donations to the Lighthouse for the Blind or St. Tammany Humane Society.
