Earline Viavant Mason passed from this world on September 9th, 2022 having just turned eighty-nine. A consummate lady, descendent of old New Orleans French heritage, she was preceded in death by her parents, James and Marjorie Viavant, and her beloved husband, Bernard. She is survived by her two children, Lisa and Robert (Sara), one granddaughter, Christine, three grandsons, Ryan, Robert, and Mason, and four great-grandchildren, and by her sister, Barbara Johnsen (Erik).
She attended Louise McGehee School as a girl before matriculating at Newcomb College where she studied art history. She later graduated from Mississippi College for women with a degree in education.
Her greatest pleasures in life were her husband, her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her warmth and generosity to all are now a memory, and one that she would insist be passed forward.
Services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM followed by a service at 11:00AM. Interment will be at Metairie Cemetery.
