He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward William Curtis, Sr., and Eleanor Word Nance Curtis; and his sister, Nance Curtis Booker.
He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Alexandra “Katherine” Garcia Curtis; children, Mark Edward Curtis (Martha), Vanessa Eleanor Curtis, Nance Ashley Curtis Livingston (David), and Alexander Word Curtis; grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth Page Curtis, Eleanor Helen Hortencia Curtis, David Barklie Livingston, Jr., and Alexandra Nance Livingston; and a host of other loving family members.
Ed was born in El Paso, Texas and attended high school at St. John’s School in Houston, Texas. After high school, he joined the United States Navy, and then attended Tulane University in New Orleans. He and his wife owned the Brass Menagerie in New Orleans, originally in the French Quarter then relocating to Magazine Street. Ed’s passion was his ability to create fine hardware and add his personal touch to fine homes of New Orleans. His work is included in Giovanni Versace’s home in Miami, Florida and the Texas State Capitol Building in Austin. His own personal collectibles have been featured in many feature films, including Live and Let Die and Lee Daniels’ The Butler.
Family and friends are invited to a prayer service on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 105 Bonnabel Boulevard in Metairie.
