Eddie was my fishing teacher.   He taught me everything I needed to know to catch a fish!  He was so much fun to be with.  We enjoyed each other's company and confidence for many years until his death.  I could never replace our friendship.  Eddie loved his family and friends.  He was loyal, kind, and very generous.  I still miss him, and I always will.  God blessed me with his friendship, and I am forever grateful!!!!   Here's to my buddy Eddie.  Heaven must have a fishing pond!!!!  Just for him!!!!

Such a kind and nice person, I am happy to have known Mr. Dillenkoffer. 

i just found out this morning.

one of the last memories i have of Ed is when he was getting dressed to go visit another friend who passed away.

this was a few years ago.

my grandfather, father's father had a a very wise work ethic,

this is something that people who worked and thought of work,
had from the world war II era.

Ed had that. it is a seldom thing to see in today's time.

i plan on visiting the cemetery,

Parran, from a little girl spending weekends with you and Aunt Lou, to you giving me away at my wedding , to you playing Santa at the family Christmas gatherings, I say THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES! You will forever be loved and missed!

I met Eddie in 1974 the year before I married Dianne, his niece. I thought he was a very interesting and fun person. We became closer friends over the years spending time together going to the Louisiana Derby, crab boils, afternoon pool parties with his neighbor Fran and Terry Smith, celebrating his birthday every year with the Smith's, and hanging out in his backyard under his gazebo. I will miss those times but glad I got to share those times with him.

I remember visiting Uncle Eddie during our school breaks.  Aunt Dianne would take us to go see him and we would fish, boil crabs, or do other things like visiting the WWII museum.   I am glad that we had those moments and will always be grateful for his patience and time teaching me how to fish.  

Words can not express the special times we all shared together as a family over the past 68 years.  I will always remember the first time you took me water skiing at Lake Pontchartrain.  The times your mother took us to your house where I got to play with Michael and David.  All the great parties we celebrated together and the the times you help fix my car.  You will be sorely missed but never forgotten.  Those memories will forever be very near and dear to my heart.  Love forever, Stuart and Patricia Pugh

From the stories we were told to the memories we made together, Uncle Eddie will always hold a special place in my heart.   Nana, his sister, shared a few from her childhood about the adventures of her brothers and having to look after them. Our memories were much more tame but still enjoyable. They were filled with days of fishing, crab boils, and Sunday Saint's games.  We didn't have enough time to make more memories, but I will always treasure the ones we made. 

Uncle Eddy will always hold a special place in our hearts.  Looking back, he played a big part in my childhood. Not to mention my brothers. I remember how no trip back to good ol’ Louisiana was complete without a few trips to hang out with Uncle Eddy.  Fishing at his camp and crab boils in his backyard brightened many of my summers. Lord knows that he’s probably in a better place now that the doctors and family can’t tell him what to do.  All in all, we’re gonna miss him. I hope he finds joy and happiness in his next great adventure.

Eddie was my true friend, confidant and companion.    We shared many good times and some sad times, too.   He was 20 years my senior,  but I never thought of him as my father.  Eddie and I liked many of the same things; movies, music, and most of all fishing!  He invited me to fish many years ago.  I didn't know how.  Eddie taught me to fish.   We caught fish together on hot days and cold days.   Our friendship was filled love, laughter and we could speak on any subject together.   His wife, Lucille, was the love of his life.  He had a wonderful marriage with her.   I know he is with her now in heaven.  I take joy in that.  His grandson Alex made his life move forward.  Eddie desired only the best for him.  Alex gave him a reason to wake up in the morning.   Eddie  loved all of his family.  He had lots of friends.   His niece Dianne and her husband Randy watched many a football game with him.  He also liked the horse races as well.   We all enjoyed our days with the Saints and LSU.   Eddie liked to watch horse races.  We enjoyed our race track days.   
Alex's mom Karin took wonderful care of him.   We all had a part in caring for him.  He wasn't alone for his birthdays, father's day or any holiday.   I  praise God that I shared Eddie's life with him.  My family couldn't have loved him anymore if he would have been our own kinsman.    My heart was broken when he died, but I am joyful in knowing that I will see him again someday.  We will laugh again, share stories and secrets and fish on the Crystal Sea!   So, goodbye for now my dear friend....This is not the end!  Love, fran

Uncle Eddie is a big part of so many fond youthful memories for me.  From our visits to Leeville where we fished, crabbed (and had outstanding crab boils), to summer weekends at the Lake Catherine camp doing the same, along with boating and water skiing.  He was always so easy going and fun to be around. His love for Louisiana outdoors was contagious.  Very saddened by his loss.

So many precious memories through the years spent with Uncle Eddie and Aunt Lou. He would dress up at our family Christmas Eve parties as Santa for his  great nieces. Fun sleepovers   at his house with his sons Michael and David.  Giving me and my sisters away at our weddings. Later in life enjoying time with him doing what he loved to do...crabbing and boiling the best tasting crabs ever! Watching Saints games together and going to the Louisiana Derby every year.  Celebrating his birthdays, holidays and Anniversaries at Ruth's Chris Steak House. So glad he was a part of my life and I got to enjoy being a part of his. 

On behalf of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Alumni Association and Brother Martin High School, I offer our prayers and condolences.  We will say a Mass in his memory.

Father of all, we pray to you for Edward,  all those we love but see no longer. Grant to them eternal rest. Let light perpetual shine upon them. May his soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Mr. Eddie was a wonderful man that loved life, his family, and friends. I will forever cherish all the Saturdays and Sundays we spent at Mom and Dad’s house with him. Our family was blessed to have him in our lives. He will be greatly missed!
