

Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Anna C. LeVasseur Hamberger; his parents, Robert Louis Hamberger and Mamie Miller Hamberger; and his brother, Robert Louis Hamberger, Jr.
He is survived by his three daughters, Sharon Hamberger Guardina (Lenny), Sandra Hamberger Wattigney (Doak), and Karen Hamberger Pritchett (Floyd); his six grandchildren, Alecia Guardina Knight (Nathan), Ansley Guardina Frey (Adam), Lindsey Woolverton, Laura Pritchett, Paul Pritchett (Jennifer), and Rebecca “Becky” Pritchett; and his six great grandchildren, Faye Knight, Jackson Frey, Addison Frey, Caleb Pritchett, Kayla Pritchett, and Toby Pritchett.
Edward was born in New Orleans on January 6, 1926, and was a graduate of Metairie High School and Delgado Community College. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II, where he was a corporal in the 9th Infantry Division. He was also a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Edward was an electrician and worked with the IBEW Local 130. He was a member of the VFW and DAV. He was also a member of Metairie Evangelical Church.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 1:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00AM. The interment will follow the chapel service at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
