Edward Joseph Rein, beloved husband of Pamela Pfister Rein, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the age of 84. A native of New Orleans, and a resident of Metairie, Louisiana, Ed graduated from Redemptorist High School and soon entered the automobile business. He successfully managed many dealerships across the area including Abraham Lincoln Mercury, and Benson Honda. Ed treasured his family and loved every occasion to gather for reunions, world travel, Sunday dinners, birthday parties, and -especially in the past several years- Thursday lunches with his sons Greg and Jeff. He relished the company of his friends and enjoyed every minute of his Friday lunch groups at Whitey’s on Downman Road or Frank’s house, his Lying Gators golf groups, and the many shared celebrations with the close friends he and Pam have treasured through the years.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pamela Pfister Rein, and their sons Gregory P. Rein (Kristen) of Madisonville, Louisiana and Jeffrey E. Rein (Dana) of Metairie. He is also survived by his loving daughter Cynthia R. Savoie (Ronny) of Hammond, Louisiana, his son Mark Rein, and his brother Melvin Rein (Darnell) of St. Rose, Louisiana. Also survived by his grandchildren Scott Savoie, Ashley S. Peraza (Seth), Christopher Darcey, Jr., Gavin Nix, and Alexis Rein, and by great-granddaughters Kinsey Savoie and Harleigh Peraza. Dearly loved by his brothers and sisters-in-law Cynthia P. Winfiele (James) of Midlothian, Virginia, Michael H. Pfister (Lisa) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Karen P.R. Morrow (Joseph) of Middlefield, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Annette Dimm Rein, and by his brother William J. Rein, Jr.
The family would like to thank the nurses and clinicians at Fresenius Kidney Care, and Neil Romig at Riverbend Physical Therapy for their constant kindness and years of care and encouragement.
