Edward “Eddie” Joseph Tanner passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 15, 2026. He was 63 years young, born on January 12, 1963, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is the beloved son/hijo of the late Imelda Garcia Raborn. Eddie resided at Crossroads Nunez Street Community Home in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Heaven has welcomed our angel on earth. Eddie is now reunited with his beloved madre, Imelda, returning to the deep and special bond they always shared. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories for everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Although Eddie had special needs, he did not see life through limitations—he saw it through pure, unconditional love. Even though he communicated differently, his joy and determination were more powerful than words. To know Eddie was to experience a rare and genuine connection that this world truly needs more of.
Eddie is survived by his dear and beloved sister/la hermana Elsa Ninoska Tanner Carrington and her husband/el esposo Monte. He was a loving uncle/el tío to his three beautiful and treasured nieces/sobrinas Michelle Adrianne Carrington (Chris), Meghan Ashley Carrington Delord (Brad), and Marlana Alexis Carrington. He was also a proud great-uncle to his handsome great-nephews/sobrinos Beaux Bradley and Bennett Bear Delord (Benny), and his beautiful great-niece/sobrina Blakely Reign Delord.
Throughout his life, Eddie was surrounded by extraordinary devotion. At Belle Chasse State School, he formed lifelong bonds with Helen Brown and Jurene Smith, who loved him as their own. Even through the displacement of Hurricane Katrina, Ms. Jurene remained a constant presence in his life, and alongside his dear friend Mario, ensured he was always safe, supported, and surrounded by love. In his final years at Crossroads Louisiana, Inc., Paula Johnson provided him with compassionate care and comfort, ensuring he lived with dignity and peace until the very end.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Chastity Hartman and Torin Poe, as well as the dedicated staff at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, for their kindness, compassion, and for going above and beyond to meet our family’s needs during this difficult time.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 25th, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with a Mass to follow in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. An interment service will follow, where Eddie will be laid to rest with his beloved mother at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
