Eleanor Ruth Worsham Hofheinz, age 97, passed away peacefully at her home in Metairie, Louisiana on March 9, 2026. Born in Montgomery, Louisiana, to Herman and Hattie Worsham, Eleanor moved to New Orleans after high school, where she lived for the next 79 years. Known for her zest for life, Eleanor explored the world with her husband, Bill Hofheinz and their daughter, Elizabeth. She prayed at the Wailing Wall in Israel, rode a camel in Egypt and savored gelato in Italy. She was widely loved by her family and by her church family at First Baptist Church of New Orleans. Always ready to help, Eleanor would bring food to the sick, volunteer at the World War II museum and help any family member or friend in need. Eleanor found deep joy in music and could often be found clapping her hands while listening to a live performance of James Rivers or Fats Domino.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and sisters Freida Bolster and Stella Hale, and nephew Michael Hale. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth and Victoria Hofheinz, granddaughter Camille Brzozowski, nieces Traci and Kayla Biskupovitch, Meredith Baranzano, Chris Seybold and Pam Fredieu as well as nephews Travis Bolster, Bradley Baranzano and Todd Hale.
A visitation and service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124 (visitation at 9:30am and service at 11am). Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church of New Orleans for the Fuel the Future Program.
